With the unexpected “ice days” that have been coming our way, I was wondering what students could do to continue their workout when they don’t have access to the RAC. The disappointing tweets that I saw after students learned that the RAC would be closed due to the weather led me to really understand how important it is to be able to continue a consistent daily workout routine. I have brainstormed and researched some great ways to continue your workout incase we get some more unexpected winter weather, or even if there are just times when you can’t make it to the RAC.
· Utilize your apartment’s facility
Most apartments have a 24-hour gym. Though the gym may be a little smaller than what you’re used to, it has components used while you’re in the RAC.
· Create a workout that does not require equipment use
If the power is out and you find yourself with no other options, this is the time to do squats, sit-ups, push-ups, etc. These workouts do not require the use of equipment, but rather take advantage of your own body weight.
· Use the workout video that you have been neglecting
I don’t know why it’s always so hard to put in that workout DVD that has been sitting by your TV for weeks or months, but this is the perfect time!
· Partner with a friend
It’s always helpful to have an accountability partner so you can motivate each other to workout at home or at the RAC. A lot of times it’s even more fun when you have a partner with you, so find a workout buddy!
