Wellness Ambassadors: Who We Are.

Do you have a special interest in wellness? Do you have a 2.5 GPA and have at least 2 more semesters left here at GSU? If so, becoming a Wellness Ambassador at CRI is the organization for you!

What exactly does a Wellness Ambassador do?

Wellness Ambassadors serve as the face of the Wellness program by creating relationships and encouraging students, faculty, and staff to participate in the University Wellness Program’s (UWP) events and activities.

Wellness Ambassadors are committed to being actively involved in programs and will have opportunities to gain plenty of volunteer hours.

This program gives students a chance to plan events such as Campus Farmer’s Market, Well.I.Am week, Blood drives, and many other events!

Why should you become a Wellness Ambassador?

“Being a Wellness Ambassador comes with many benefits including leadership skills development, event planning skills, marketing skills, meeting new people, a sense of belonging, as well as a jam-up advisor as a mentor!” Michele Martin, director of UWP happily expressed.

After speaking with the president of the Wellness Ambassadors, Rebecca Hotard, she discussed her overall experience with the program: “When I first became a Wellness Ambassador, it didn’t take long for me to become passionate about what we stand for, which is improving every aspect of health for both faculty and staff as well as the students here at Georgia Southern.  Not only are we health educators but we are advocates for creating healthy habits in all 7 dimensions of Wellness that lead to healthier lifestyles. Being a Wellness Ambassador doesn’t just mean another organization to add to a resume, but instead becoming apart of a family unit that strives to improve Georgia Southern’s student life.”

Becoming a Wellness Ambassador allows students to make connections with other students and faculty all over campus. This program will also be a way to provide someone with resources to improve their health.  What a great gift!

What’s the next step?

UWP would love to have at least 35 Wellness Ambassadors to start off the year. This program is great for Health Promotion and Education, Exercise Science, Nursing, and Biology majors but all majors are welcomed!
