Are you looking for a job? Have you thought about working at the RAC?
The CRI Job Fair has begun, so now you can apply for a job in Aquatics, Fitness, Facilities, Marketing, Intramural Sports, and Southern Adventures. Interested yet? Read on for information about each of these departments and interviews with current student workers.

Aquatics

The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of patrons including accident prevention and rescue in the water and surrounding areas.

Nina Griffin


Name: Nina Griffin
Classification: Senior
Position at CRI: Lifeguard

How long have you been employed with CRI?
Since Fall 2007

What is a day on the job like for you?
During the day it is pretty routine; it is calm with classes and the regulars who come here to swim. It is always busy at night. We get a different crowd every night.

What is your favorite part of working here?
Definitely the people I work with. Also, the facility is really nice.

Facilities
The Recreation Facility Assistant is responsible for the overall operation of the Control Access Desk/Front Desk/Welcome Center during facility operating hours. Recreation Facility Assistant will monitor all participants and guests as they enter and exit the facility. In addition, the Recreation Facility Assistant will split time at the Control Access Desk/Front Desk/Welcome Center and the entire building as a roving open recreation assistant. As a Recreation Facility Assistant, assertiveness and customer service play key roles in the overall effectiveness of the position.

Wally Brown


Name: Wally Brown
Classification: Sophomore
Position at CRI: Facility Assistant

How long have you been employed with CRI?
One year

What is a day on the job like for you?
Swiping patrons Eagle IDs, helping them with the finger scanners, giving directions to places in and outside of the RAC, and giving tours of the RAC.

What is your favorite part of working here?
Meeting new people is fun. I meet a lot of people.

Fitness
The strength and conditioning staff will be responsible for ensuring the safety and exercise efficacy of all CRI strength and conditioning areas through education of proper weight training techniques, proper fitness equipment use, and enforcement of all CRI policies and procedures, as well as maintaining cleanliness of all strength and conditioning areas.

Courtney Wilkins


Name: Courtney Wilkins
Classification: Senior
Position at CRI: Fitness supervisor

How long have you been employed with CRI?
Three years

What is a day on the job like for you?
I get to show people how to use the weight machines, spot them when they are lifting, and hear a lot of funny stories. It is fun to meet new people, and knowing I have a small impact on their lives.

What is your favorite part of working here?
I really enjoy upholding the reputation of CRI.

Intramural Sports
An Intramural Sports Scorekeeper is responsible for assisting in the game management and administration of intramural sports including flag football, basketball, softball, and other activities. Scorekeepers assist in managing and overseeing recreational facilities in order to provide a safe and enjoyable recreational atmosphere for intramural participants.

Dawn Hopson and Michelle Johnson


Name: Dawn Hopson & Michelle Johnson
Classification: Sophomore & Junior
Position at CRI: Intramural Scorekeepers

How long have you been employed with CRI?
Two years

What is a day on the job like for you?
It’s really fun. There is a lot of interaction with players. We sign them in and make sure the games are going smoothly. For a lot of sports, we interact with the referees throughout the games. It’s fun because we get to meet so many people. Both of us really like sports, and we get to watch sports every day on the job.

What is your favorite part of working here?
The people in and outside Intramural Sports. CRI is like a huge family. We all joke around and have fun at work.

Marketing
The Public Relations assistant position will represent CRI at campus events, in print media, and other special events as needed. In addition, successful candidates will also represent CRI at Open Houses and other special events.

Michelle Vegliante


Name: Michelle Vegliante
Classification: Senior
Position at CRI: Public Relations Assistant

How long have you been employed with CRI?
Two years

What is a day on the job like for you?
I update the signs in the RAC, write articles for the CRI spread in the George Anne, write the text for posters, maintain the CRI blog, and take pictures of our events.

What is your favorite part of working here?
Getting experience in Public Relations. That is my major, so this job is beneficial and fun.

Southern Adventures
The purpose of a Southern Adventures attendant is to provide superior customer service to all rental center, climbing wall, and challenge course patrons.

Michael Whitehair


Name: Michael Whitehair
Classification: Senior
Position at CRI: Southern Adventures Attendant

How long have you been employed with CRI?
Three years

What is a day on the job like for you?
Awesome! I learn a lot everyday while working. I learn about business skills, and also about the outdoors. I have a lot of interaction with people on trips and the challenge course.

What is your favorite part of working here?
My favorite part is working with people and getting to go on and leading trips.
